Rebirth of the Blues

Feature Documentary

Currently in development, Rebirth of the Blues is a feature-length documentary exploring the past, present, and future of one of America’s most influential musical traditions.

Born from the Black American experience, the blues traveled from Southern juke joints to Memphis, Chicago, and eventually the world, helping shape rock & roll, soul, R&B, and generations of popular music. Yet today, the blues itself has largely faded from mainstream American culture.

How did the music that changed the world become overlooked in the country where it was born?

Through legendary artists, descendants of blues pioneers, historians, and a new generation of musicians, Rebirth of the Blues explores whether the blues truly disappeared—or became so deeply embedded in modern music that we stopped recognizing it.
